THE Association for nepal |
Choose the membership type that fits youDear Colleagues, The Association for Nepal and Himalayan Studies is alive and well and we look forward to welcoming new members to the ANHS community. As Chair of the ANHS Membership Committee, it is my pleasure to provide a brief update on the organization and the many benefits of ANHS membership. The organization has had a busy and productive year, even in the light of many adversities. This spring, we convened two very well attended webinars and were joined by ANHS members from across the world to discuss topics related to research challenges and academic freedoms in South Asia as well as the 40th anniversary of the groundbreaking Status of Women in Nepal Report. ANHS has established a new collaborative relationship with Social Science Baha (SSB) and in the near future we hope to see many of our members at ANHS’s newly relocated Kathmandu Research Center library and office now located at SSB. Last year, ANHS was also excited to welcome Dr. Jeevan Sharma and Dr. Michael Heneise as the new editors of our flagship journal, HIMALAYA; we are also grateful that past editors Dr. Mona Bhan and Dr. David Citrin remain active with the journal and broader ANHS organization as well. Although we were unable to convene the annual ANHS Members Meeting in Madison last October, we look forward to convening an online version of the meeting later this year. And despite the unprecedented challenge of the past year, I am especially happy to report that ANHS currently has over 300 active members, including new Lifetime Members as well as Institutional Members; this summer, we will also select a new cohort for the Asian Student Membership Scholarship Program. Most of all, we anticipate the opportunity to convene as a membership community again, and in-person, at the next Himalayan Studies Conference in 2022! There has never been a better time to be a member of ANHS - so please join the organization, renew your membership, and participate with the community. We currently have THREE MEMBERSHIP LEVELS as well as a tiered-pricing system for scholars joining from across the world: Student $15 Himalayan Region; $25 North America, Europe, and Other Regions General (Faculty, Post-Docs, and Independent Scholars) $40 Himalayan Region; $50 North America, Europe and Other Regions Institutional $300: Universities and Libraries Lifetime $1500 If you have any questions or concerns about joining the organization or your membership status, please don’t hesitate to contact Galen Murton at membership@anhs-himalaya.org Please join us!
