Reflections on the Forty Year Anniversary of the Status of Women in Nepal Report

In celebration of Women’s History Month 2021, we are excited to announce the next ANHS webinar: Reflections on the Forty Year Anniversary of the Status of Women in Nepal Report. In addition to reflections on this landmark study and its impact on gender and equity policies in Nepal over the decades, panelists will speak to their own experiences with authorship and implementation of the study including its findings and results. In addition to revisiting the Report, panelists will also discuss current debates, demands, and actions related to the status of women in Nepal today. Key topics include controversy and opposition related to the Government of Nepal Department of Immigration’s travel policies for women under-40; recent women’s marches and protests in Kathmandu against gendered violence and patriarchal impunity; LGBQTI+ identity in Nepal today; and other topics.
